“Ian found a place right by the water,” he said.

“The beach. Our guys’ trip.”
I lowered the formula scoop.
“What trip?”
Ryan opened the fridge.
I kept scooping.
“Me, Ian, and Jason. Five days. We leave tomorrow.”
Then I noticed the black suitcase beside the front door.
“You already packed?”
“Mostly.”
“When were you planning to tell me?”
“I’m telling you now, Shannon. Keep up.”
