The Hotel Maid Knocked on Our Door at 3 AM and Whispered, ‘You Need to Leave Right Now’

“No.”

Victor raised the gun.

“She isn’t.”

One of the guards left the room.

Ana pulled me away from the panel.

“He’ll search the passages.”

“Then let me go back to the room.”

“Too late.”

She dragged me through another door and down a metal staircase.

We descended two floors.

Above us, a door slammed.

Footsteps entered the hidden corridor.

Ana moved faster.

At the bottom of the stairs, we reached the hotel laundry.

Industrial machines roared around us.

Sheets spun behind round glass windows.

Steam clouded the ceiling.

Ana pushed me behind a cart piled with towels.

“Stay here.”

“Where are you going?”

“To get your husband.”

“You said there were two guards.”

“There are three now.”

She turned to leave.

I grabbed her sleeve.
