“No.”
Daniel slowly turned away from her.
He looked at the pregnant woman instead.
She had finally taken her first bite.
Tears rolled silently down her cheeks.
She noticed everyone watching and quickly wiped them away.
“I’m sorry.”
“You keep apologizing,” I said softly. “You’ve done nothing wrong.”
She managed a weak smile.
“I just hate crying in public.”
Daniel stepped a little closer.
As she lowered the cheeseburger, her sweatshirt sleeve slid back.
