He froze.
His expression changed completely.
Not anger.
Not determination.
Confusion.
He stared at her wrist.
Just below it, on the inside of her forearm, was a small crescent-shaped birthmark.
Beside it sat a thin white scar.
His breathing caught.
Very quietly, he asked,
“Where did you get that scar?”
The young woman instinctively covered her arm.
