A New Photo Arrives From Rehabilitation
McConnell’s office issued the new on Monday, confirming that the 84-year-old senator was still not medically cleared to leave his rehabilitation facility or resume working in person at the U.S. Capitol.
The accompanying image showed McConnell seated beside Chao, who stood close to him as they faced the camera. It was the first photograph released of the couple together since his June 14 hospitalization.
McConnell appeared in a light blue shirt, while Chao wore a polka-dot white blouse. She placed one hand on his arm and the other on the pillow behind him. The pair smiled together in what appeared intended to be a reassuring glimpse of his progress.
Yet the photograph did not settle every concern. Viewers began enlarging the image and comparing McConnell’s face with earlier pictures, focusing particularly on his nose, one eye, his hair, and the appearance of a hand in the frame.
