Around the young woman\u2019s neck, suspended from a delicate platinum chain, was a deep blue sapphire pendant. It was a custom-cut marquise stone, held by four distinct platinum prongs that formed the shape of tiny leaves.<\/p>\n

My fingers rubbed my bare skin where that exact necklace had hung for five years. Gregory had spent three weeks working with the jeweler on Hillsboro Road to draft that design for our anniversary, telling me there was not another one like it in Tennessee.<\/p>\n
