Hollywood legends were everywhere as the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art finally celebrated its long-awaited opening in Los Angeles. But among the parade of famous faces, one woman accompanying Steven Spielberg offered a particularly nostalgic surprise. <\/strong>She was hardly a stranger to the filmmaker \u2014 or to one of cinema’s biggest adventure franchises.<\/p>\n

Spielberg was among the event’s co-chairs as George Lucas and wife Mellody Hobson welcomed stars inside the museum on September 19, 2026. And the woman beside him has her own connection to a movie character audiences have remembered for more than four decades. The mystery guest was Kate Capshaw,<\/strong> the 72-year-old former actress who starred opposite Harrison Ford as Willie Scott in 1984’s “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”<\/i> \u2014 and who has been married to Spielberg for decades.<\/p>\n

And judging from the rare new appearance, Capshaw certainly knows how to make a return to the Hollywood spotlight count.<\/p>\n

Kate Capshaw Makes a Rare Red-Carpet Appearance<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Capshaw attended the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opening night with Spielberg, stunning in a black-and-white ensemble <\/strong>and sporting her long blonde hair loosely as the pair joined the extraordinary collection of Hollywood heavyweights gathered for the occasion.<\/p>\n

The actress-turned-artist was photographed smiling with her husband both on the event carpet and inside the celebration. The resulting images offer a fresh glimpse of a star who has largely chosen a life away from Hollywood’s constant glare.<\/strong> noted that it has now been 42 years since <\/strong>“Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”<\/strong><\/i> helped propel Capshaw to wider fame.<\/p>\n

In the film, she played Willie Scott, a nightclub singer whose life becomes considerably more dangerous after she gets caught up in Indiana Jones’ latest adventure.<\/p>\n

Spielberg Had a Major Role in the Historic Night<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Capshaw wasn’t simply accompanying her husband to another Hollywood premiere. According to <\/u><\/i>, Spielberg served as one of the opening night’s event co-chairs alongside Julie Bell, Tom Cruise, Guillermo del Toro, Greta Gerwig, Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Huang, JR and Pharrell Williams.<\/p>\n

The celebration came before the museum’s upcoming September 22 public opening and marked the culmination of a project 17 years in the making. <\/strong>Lucas and Hobson poured $1 billion into the museum<\/strong>, whose more than 10,000 square feet of gallery space brings together everything from “Star Wars”<\/i> props and comic book illustrations to works by Norman Rockwell and Frida Kahlo.<\/p>\n

Queen Latifah opened the festivities by emphasizing just how unusual it was for everyone in the room to witness the beginning of a major new cultural institution.<\/p>\n

“Nobody gets to go to a night like this. No one was in the room when the doors opened at the MoMA, or at the Louvre in 1793, or the Met\u2026 so we’ve got to feel the gravity of this moment because this is enormous,” she told guests.<\/p>\n
