The Gorilla Who Appeared to Rescue a Fallen Zookeeper: What Really Happens When Humans Enter a Gorilla’s Space?
Two surveillance images showing a gorilla beside an apparently unconscious zookeeper have attracted enormous attention online. In the first frame, the animal appears to be lying beside the staff member, while in the second, the gorilla is seen holding the person across its body.
At first glance, the scene looks almost unbelievable. Some viewers may interpret it as an extraordinary act of compassion and rescue, while others may see a potentially dangerous encounter between a powerful wild animal and a human.
But a photograph can capture only a moment. It cannot tell us exactly what the gorilla was thinking, why the person was on the ground, or whether the animal was deliberately attempting to rescue him.
