Adrian stood. “Get out.”
Richard ignored him. “Clara. You should have called before bringing the child here.”

I rose slowly, holding Rose close.
“You knew.”
Adrian turned toward his father.
“What does she mean?”
Richard sighed, as if disappointed by our inability to remain civilized. “This is not the place.”
